Wooden Pipe Organ
Mr Paul Hufner
17 November 1918 - 30 August 2010
The wooden Pipe Organ that stands in All Saints Church Collie was made by Mr Paul Hufner in 1964. He was the most prolific organ maker in Western Australia with only two of his organs going outside of this state. In all Paul built 30 organs. His instruments were musical, and reliable as many have functioned with very little intervention for over 50 years.
Paul started work as a Piano tuner but in 1940 changed to organ making after helping to install a pipe organ for Gunstar Organ Works. Paul built everything in his earlier organs himself except for hard-to make parts such as magnets and metal pipework. For the most part he designed and made all the wooden pipe ranks, cabinets and case and also manual and pedal keyboards.

A Small Wooden Pipe Organ
The Pipe Organ in All Saints Anglican Church Collie is believed to be the smallest wooden Pipe Organ in Western Australia. Most organs are made of steel or metal pipe work but this organ is made of Western Australian Mahogany. This wood was chosen because of its resonate qualities. The separate console is also an interesting feature as most consoles are found in front of the organ.
The Collie parishioners raised the funds for this Pipe Organ and it cost 760 Pounds and took 6 months to build.
